Fertility and Your Reproductive Health

There are several elements at play when trying to conceive. During the initial assessment you can expect to discuss your fertility health history in depth. Any additional health problems you may have will also be discussed at this time. Diagnostic procedures regarding your fertility and your cycle patterns will be noted to identify possible imbalances.

What To Expect

The information collected during your initial visit is used to develop a plan based on Traditional Chinese Medicine Theory to help identify what may be inhibiting your fertility. Recommendations may be suggested to promote a balanced lifestyle based on our assessment and your constitution.

  • Your cycle is the beginning of your fertility health. Expect to disclose the nitty gritty details of your monthly cycle.

  • Acupuncture treatments are buildable especially for fertility concerns. Expect weekly visits to build upon your health goals.

  • Once there is a confirmed pregnancy, acupuncture can be used to help keep the mind calm and body relaxed. Expect a recommendation of treatments once every 2-3 weeks during your pregnancy.

Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine theory can be used to promote natural conception, or as an adjunct therapy for IUI (Intrauterine insemination) and IVF (In vitro fertilization). Acupuncture protocols that are established for IUI and IVF have been studied and have been useful in contributing to the success of these fertility procedures.

Acupuncture is often used for:

  • Advanced Maternal Age

  • Amenorrhea

  • Anovulation

  • Elevated Follicle-Stimulating Hormone Levels

  • Endometriosis, Implantation failure

  • Luteal Phase defect

  • Ovarian Cysts

  • Polycystic Ovary Syndrome, Uterine Fibroids

  • Unexplained Infertility.

The use of acupuncture for these conditions involve increasing blood profusion to the reproductive organs, and relieving stress by stimulating points to calm the body.
